Course Reserves

Faculty can place materials on reserve for their students to ensure high demand or costly materials are available to everyone in the class.

Reserve materials may be:

  • Any circulating book
  • Personal copies of books - these are returned at the end of each term, unless advised otherwise
  • Photocopies of journal or magazine articles, book chapters or lecture notes

How to Place Items on Reserve

Bring the materials you wish to place on reserve to the Circulation Desk at least one week prior to the date these materials will be needed by your students.

Include the following information:

  • Your Name
  • Your Phone Number, Email Address
  • The loan period for the item
  • Length of time you need the item to remain on reserve
  • The program and course for the material

Reserve materials will be removed on the date specified in the original booking request.

We request that you assess your reserve items annually to ensure the most current materials are available.

Loan Periods

Course Reserves have the following loan periods:

  • Library Use Only
  • Three Days
  • Seven Days

Multiple copies of a title can have various loan periods.

Library Use Loans- located on shelves behind the Circulation Desk

Three-Day and Seven-Day Loans - are shelved with the regular collection

How Students Borrow Course Reserves

In order to borrow a reserve item, students must present their photo ID to the Circulation Desk.
